Biophilia - the innate human tendency to seek connection with nature.
“Imbue” is a series of analogue and digital photographs that explore the movement and fluidity of nature through long exposure techniques and intentional camera movement. Captured in forests and natural landscapes, the works transform shifting light, textures and rhythms into painterly, abstract compositions. In dissolving the boundary between stillness and motion, the images invite a contemplative response, allowing each viewer to bring their own interpretation and emotional resonance to the work.
I have long been fascinated by the ability of art to blur the line between reality and imagination. My aim with this series is to create images that do not dictate meaning, but instead offer a sense of atmosphere, a space where emotion, memory and sensation can arise without fixed boundaries. These works are designed to hold both familiarity and ambiguity, evoking a feeling rather than a literal representation.
These images don't merely depict landscapes; they are filtered through human perception, motion blur, light distortion and colour saturation make the viewer aware that this is nature experienced by a human.
This perspective reinforces the idea that nature is not separate from us, we experience it subjectively and it reflects back our inner emotional or psychological states. This is core to Biophilia: that we find meaning, solace or stimulation in natural surroundings.
