This work is the evolution of my previous project 'The Quiet Place' exploring the absence of my father.  The project is intended for a book and presents a series of out-of-focus black-and-white photographs and Cyanotypes accompanied by words taken from letters exchanged between myself and my father when I was a child.
The blurred photographs evoke the elusive nature of memory and the emotional distance inherent in the relationship, while the text offers glimpses into the personal narrative that unfolds through correspondence. Together, image and word create a layered dialogue, exploring absence, longing and the construction of identity through familial connection.
The project extends my exploration of memory, place, and parental influence. By pairing blurred images with intimate text, the work investigates how absence and distance shape perception and understanding. The out-of-focus imagery reflects the instability of recollection, the fragments of experience that linger, and the emotional complexity of relationships. Through this combination of photographic and textual elements, the book aims to create a contemplative space where viewers are invited to engage with questions of belonging, memory, and the subtle traces of human connection that persist despite time and separation.
